On April 29, Julia Stoyanovich delivered a keynote at Fordham University’s 2026 Graduate Research Celebration, an expanded university-wide event showcasing the breadth, rigor, and impact of graduate scholarship across disciplines.

Her address, “The Joys of Doing, Learning, Being in the Age of AI,” explored the connections between three aspects of her work that bring her joy—research, teaching, and policymaking—and the broader mission of the Center, which spans technical AI research, education and training, and the development of accountability and governance frameworks around AI.

Moving between philosophy, public education, technical research, and policy, Julia reflected on what should remain deeply human in the age of AI: the experience of learning, creating, questioning, and taking responsibility for the systems that shape our lives.
